In an initiative
designed to improve the quality of care across its
physician network, United Healthcare recently announced
that, by March 2008, all freestanding facilities
and physician offices performing outpatient imaging
will
be required to obtain accreditation as a condition
for reimbursement.
What does this news
mean for ultrasound practitioners? JR Associates
President, Judy Rosenbloom, weighs in:
As the rules
for reimbursement become more rigorous, its
only a matter of time before labs everywhere must
rise to the challenge of accreditation. Unfortunately,
most practitioners consider accreditation a frustrating,
time-consuming task. But it no longer needs to be
that wayespecially with tools that simplify
the process of documenting clinical standards.
Thats why JR
Associates developed Ultrasound Practice Tool Kits.
These easy-to-customize Microsoft Word templates
make it possible for any lab to create accreditation-quality
policy and procedure manuals in a fraction of the
time typically required. Available for Echocardiography,
Vascular and General Ultrasound, each kit comes
complete with every form, document and guideline
needed to fully comply with all accrediting agencies.
